MOBILE, Ala. - The Georgia State volleyball team fell to South Alabama, 2-3 (13-25, 16-25, 27-25, 25-21, 9-15), Friday night at Jaguar gymnasium in Mobile, Ala.

After dropping the first two sets to start the contest, Georgia State stormed back to win sets three and four, before dropping set five. 

With the loss, Georgia State falls to 3-14, 0-7 Sun Belt, while South Alabama improves to 13-6, 6-1 Sun Belt. 

Offensively, the Panthers were led by Evoni Lemons who tallied 13 kills for the contest.

Once again, the Georgia State back row was held down by Ava Vlkovic who notched 21 digs. Friday's match marked the fifth time this season that Vlkovic has tallied 20+ digs. 

South Alabama put together dominant performances in sets one and two as the Jaguars won both sets by double digits. After making adjustments, the Panthers came out aggressive in set three and battled to a 27-25 set victory. 

In set three, the Panthers were led by Lemons and Julianna Truscott as they combined for nine kills. 

Georgia State's momentum from set three carried over to set four as the Panthers jumped out to a 10-5 lead. The Panthers were able to maintain their lead and went on to win the set, 25-21. Lemons continued her stellar play in set four as she notched four kills while hitting .667.

After battling to a 2-2 ledger, both teams entered set five looking to earn a pivotal conference victory. 

South Alabama jumped out to an 8-2 lead to begin set five and never looked back. The Panthers fought to narrow the Jaguars lead but could only pull within four, and went on to lose the set, 9-15.

Georgia State will look to bounce back tomorrow when it faces Troy at 7 p.m., live on ESPN+.
