Balanced Attack Leads Panthers to First Win

ATLANTA -- Georgia State took and early lead Sunday afternoon against Life and never turned back, leading the game for more than 39 minutes and winning 69-47.

The Panthers used a balanced team effort to claim their first win on the young season. Taniyah Worth led GSU with 11 points and Deasia Merrill finished with 10 to go with four boards. Eight Panthers scored at least five points in the victory.

Merrill fueled the GSU offense in the first half, scoring all 10 of her points on 4-of-4 shooting. She added tow assists as well. Worth scored all 11 of her points in a three-minutes stretch as GSU closed out the first half on a 15-2 run.

Kam Dziak hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the third quarter as GSU used another big run to lead 54-36 at the end of the period.

Jenae Dublin came off the bench and scored five points in the fourth quarter to go with two rebounds, a steal and a block to hold off Life and secure the GSU win.

The Panthers are home again Wednesday vs. Brewton-Parker at 6 p.m.
