Panthers Hit the Road to Alabama

QUICK NOTES
•    Georgia State goes on a two-game road swing to northern Alabama beginning with a game at North Alabama Saturday at 2 p.m. on ESPN+. The Panthers will play at Alabama A&M on Monday at 6 p.m.
•    GSU and UNA will be meeting for the second time on Saturday. The Panthers lost to North Alabama in the WBI to end the 2018-19 season.
•    The Panthers have won two straight after an 80-40 rout of Brewton-Parker Wednesday evening. Ashley Foster is GSU's leading scorer through the first four games, averaging 13.8 ppg.
•    GSU earned its first win of the season last Sunday at home against Life. Taniyah Worth led GSU with 11 points and Deasia Merrill finished with 10. GSU defeated the Running Eagles 69-47.
•    Ashley Foster posted career-highs in points (19) and rebounds (6) in the season-opener at Florida. All five newcomers made their GSU debut. Freshman Nyla Jean scored 10 points. Foster also led GSU in scoring vs. Tennessee State with 15 points.
•    The Panthers return five players that started 10 or more games last season. The key returners for GSU include Taniyah Worth (8.5 ppg, 3.2 rpg), Hannah Sadler (8.2 ppg, 3.5 rpg), Tehya Lyons (6.1 ppg, 46 assists), and Kam Dziak (5.0 ppg, 30 3FG made).
•    The Panthers recorded their second winning season in the last three years in 2020-21 and earned the No. 2 seed from the east at the Sun Belt Championship. It was GSU's first No. 2 seed since 2001.
•    GSU returns 10 players overall and welcomes five newcomers. Head coach Gene Hill also welcomed a new assistant coach in the offseason, Roddreka Rogers.
•    Of the 15 Panthers on this year's roster, eight are from Georgia, two from Alabama, two from Florida, one from Maryland, one from Ohio, and one from Israel.
•    Georgia State begins conference play Dec. 30 at home against Little Rock. The Panthers were picked seventh in the preseason coaches' poll.
