Panthers Lead Wire-to-Wire to Take Down Florida A&M

ATLANTA -- Georgia State never trailed Tuesday en route to a 61-52 win over Florida A&M at the GSU Sports Arena.

Ashley Foster scored a team-high 17 points on an efficient 8-for-12 shooting performance to lead GSU. It was her sixth game this season in double figures.

Georgia State shot nearly 60% in the first quarter and ended the period on an 8-0 run to lead 22-11. Tehya Lyons went 3-for-4 with six points in the opening quarter.

The Panthers' offense slowed in the second quarter, but the defense continued to cause problems for FAMU. GSU carried a 32-21 advantage into the locker room and maintained a 48% shooting performance for the first half.

Georgia State outscored FAMU 17-16 in the third quarter to stay in front by double digits heading into the final period. Foster went a perfect 3-for-3 in the third quarter.

Georgia State held Florida A&M without out a field goal for nearly four minutes in the middle of the fourth quarter as the Panthers stretched their lead to 56-42 and held on down the stretch for a nine-point win.

Georgia State moves to 5-5 and stays home to host the GSU Holiday Classic Saturday and Sunday. GSU will host Tulsa at 2 p.m. Saturday and Charleston Southern at 2 p.m. Sunday.
