Allen’s Seven Treys Lead Panthers to 92-44 Win Over Toccoa Falls

Box Score ATLANTA-Senior Corey Allen knocked down seven 3-pointers, junior Jalen Thomas recorded his first career double-double, and the Georgia State men's basketball team cruised to a 92-44 win over Toccoa Falls on Saturday night at the GSU Sports Arena.

Allen went 7-of-8 from 3-point range and finished the night with 23 points, while Thomas scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as Georgia State (6-4) won its final non-conference game in the GSU Sports Arena.

The Panthers finished the game going 16-of-31 from 3-point range. The 16 3-pointers are tied for the fourth-most in a single game in Georgia State history. The Panthers also knocked down 16 3-pointers against Toccoa Falls last season. GSU finished the game shooting 55.0 from the floor while outrebounding the Screaming Eagles 46-22.

Nelson Phillips tied a career high with 20 points going 7-of-12 from the floor with four 3-pointers. Despite being held scoreless, senior Kane Williams dished out eight of Georgia State's 23 assists.

Toccoa Falls (9-8) was led by Lance Smith who scored 15 points but was responsible for eight of Toccoa Falls' 19 turnovers.

Georgia State quickly rushed out to an 11-0 lead in the first two minutes as Allen knocked down three 3-pointers before the Screaming Eagles got on the board.

The Panthers hit their first six shots of the game and remained hot throughout the half shooting 62.1 percent in the opening 20 minutes including 10-of-17 from long range.

A late 13-0 run gave GSU a 44-16 lead with 2:30 to play in the half. Georgia State went into the locker room leading 47-21 as Allen had 18 points going 6-of-6 from 3-point range.

Georgia State continued to push the pace in the second half while holding Toccoa Falls without a field goal for seven minutes to take a 66-29 lead with just under 12 minutes to play.

The Panthers pushed the lead to as many as 48 with 1:50 to play as Georgia State shot 48.4 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes.

Freshman Ja'Heim Hudson added eight rebounds, while senior Justin Roberts came off the bench to score 10 points and grab five rebounds. Kaleb Scott added nine points off the bench while Evan Johnson scored eight.
