Foster and Bell Each Score 11 in Win over Charleston Southern

Box Score ATLANTA – Ashley Foster scored 11 points with seven rebounds and five assists to lead Georgia State to a 55-50 win over Charleston Southern Sunday afternoon at the GSU Sports Arena.

Foster, who reached double figures for the seventh time this season, was joined by Elexus Bell and Deasia Merrill. Bell scored 11 and Merrill added 10. Taylor Henderson was GSU's leading rebounder with 10.

Georgia State scored the first seven points of the game to take an early lead but trailed the Buccaneers 13-12 at the end of the first quarter.

Like the opening minutes of the game, GSU's defense dominated the second quarter, holding CSU scoreless until the 1:25 mark just before halftime. The Panthers took a 25-20 lead into the break.

Georgia State maintained its lead well into the second half, but Charleston Southern battled back in the closing minutes to cut GSU's lead to two with 2:10 to play.

The Buccaneers had a chance to tie with 14 seconds left but missed a 3-pointer with the Panthers in front 53-50. Kamryn Dziak was fouled and hit both free throws for the 55-50 victory.

Georgia State wraps up the non-conference scheduled 6-6 and will begin Sun Belt action Dec. 30 vs. Little Rock at the GSU Sports Arena.
