Georgia State held No. 14 West Virginia to just three hits but fell 3-2 in Sunday's series finale to split the four-game series at the GSU Baseball Complex.

The Mountaineers (2-2) scored the go-ahead runs in the sixth inning, pushing across two runs with the benefit of just one hit, a bunt single.

West Virginia struck first with an unearned run in the second, but Georgia State answered in the third.
Josh Smith led off with a double to the left center gap, moved to third on a sacrifice and scored on ground ball to second base by
Kyle Riesselmann.

The Panthers (2-2) took a 2-1 lead one inning later on an RBI-single by
Ashby Smith, who was 2-for-4 on the day and had five RBI in the series.

Four GSU pitchers combined to allow the runs, two of which were earned. Starter
Chad Treadway allowed just one unearned run and one hit in 3.2 innings but walked four. Lefties
Tyler Koch (2.2 innings) and
Dawson Sweatt (1 inning) combined for 3.2 scoreless innings of relief.
Dylan Matela (0-1) took the loss.
