Panthers Welcome #19 Georgia, Miami (OH) to the Heck Softball Complex

ATLANTA -- Georgia State hosts 19th-ranked Georgia at noon Saturday followed by Miami (OH) at 4 p.m. at the Bob Heck Softball Complex.

The Panthers are hosting Georgia for the second year in a row and the two sides will have faced each other in 11 consecutive seasons after Saturday's action. GSU defeated the Bulldogs in 2013 and 2014, but UGA has won six in a row since. The first meeting between the two sides was in 1997 and Georgia State has four wins in the series.

Georgia State last faced Miami (OH) on Feb. 19, 2016 in Atlanta. The Panthers won that game 3-0 behind a Katie Worley no-hitter.

Following GSU vs. UGA at noon, the Bulldogs and RedHawks will play at 2 p.m. before the 4 p.m. finale between GSU and Miami.

Georgia State sits at 6-3 on the season after a 3-1 week at North Carolina A&T and UNCW. Emily Brown's .433 average leads the team while Bailee Richardson and Daisy Hess lead the team in slugging. Richardson has two home runs with 10 RBI and Hess leads the team with 11 RBI to go with five doubles and a triple.

Emily Buck has two complete games in two starts in the circle this year. Her 1.31 ERA paces the Panther pitching staff. Sophie Mooney is 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA and a pair of complete games as well.

Fans are permitted at the Bob Heck Softball Complex. Georgia State Athletics asks that visitors adhere to Covid-19 safety protocols as directed by the CDC and the Sun Belt Conference including wearing a mask and social distancing.
