With the win, Georgia State (13-10, 9-7 Sun Belt) won for the third-straight time and wrapped up a bye and the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Sun Belt Conference Championship in Pensacola, Fla. The Panthers will play their first game on March 6 and will learn their potential opponents when the bracket is announced on Sunday.

South Alabama (12-12, 9-9 Sun Belt) lost for the third-straight time, though entered the game with only seven available players. Despite that fact, Antoinette Lewis nearly recorded a triple-double with a team-high 19 points, 10 rebounds, and nine blocked shots.

Georgia State won the game on the glass, outrebounding South Alabama 55-31, which allowed the Panthers to overcome shooting just 37.1 percent from the floor. The Panthers did shoot 80.0 percent at the free throw line (16-of-20), while the Jaguars managed to go just 4-of-13.

Joelle Johnson added 13 points for Georgia State, while Taylor Henderson scored 11 and Hannah Sadler added 10.

Casey Ferguson went 6-of-8 from 3-point range for South Alabama and finished with 18 points, one of four Jaguars in double figures.

South Alabama got off to a quick start taking a 14-4 lead just five minutes into the game, but the Panthers responded with a 14-2 run to end the quarter and take a 18-16 lead into the first break.

Georgia State continued to pour it on scoring the first eight points of the second quarter, extending the run to 22-2, taking a 26-16 lead with 8:05 to play in the half, and causing South Alabama to call its first timeout of the game.

Led by Hosendove's 12 first half points, Georgia State went into the locker room with a 40-25 lead outrebounding South Alabama 32-15 in the first 20 minutes.

Georgia State continued to dominate the boards and pushed the lead to as many as 21 points twice during the third quarter before going to the fourth leading 56-41 as the Jaguars scored the final five points.

On a lay-up by Jayla Morrow, South Alabama cut Georgia State's lead to seven, 69-62, with 1:34 to play, but that is as close as the Jaguars would get as the Panthers scored the next seven points.
