Hosendove Wins it at the Buzzer in Boone

Taylor Hosendove scored the game-winning basket as time expired Saturday in GSU's 50-48 win at Appalachian State.

Box Score BOONE, N.C. -- Taylor Hosendove drilled the game-winning basket as time expired Saturday to lead Georgia State to an exciting 50-48 win at Appalachian State.

The Panthers led the majority of the game but hit a cold stretch in the fourth quarter, allowing Appalachian State to take a 48-47 lead with 2:26 remaining. Hannah Sadler hit one of two free throws with 48 seconds left to tie the game and the GSU defense earned a big stop on the other end to gain the final possession with a chance to win.

Hosendove posted up just outside the paint and received the ball from Taylor Henderson with around 4 seconds to go. Hosendove started left but spun back to her right and dropped in the game-winning layup as the buzzer sounded.

She led the Panthers in scoring and rebounding with 10 points and 13 rebounds while recording her 13th career double-double.

Georgia State started the game strong and built a 14-point lead in the second quarter. Appalachian State slowly fought back and used an 11-1 run in the fourth quarter to pull even. The Panthers shot 40% from the field while holding the Mountaineers to 32%.

Saturday's win marked a sweep of GSU's pair of road games at App State after the Panthers won 72-62 on Friday. GSU now sits at 9-6 overall and 5-3 in the Sun Belt.

Next up for the Panthers is a trip to Statesboro Thursday to play rival Georgia Southern at 6 p.m. on ESPN+. GSU hosts the Eagles in the Sports Arena Saturday at 2 p.m. also on ESPN+.
