ATLANTA – Georgia State fell to Sun Belt rival Georgia Southern 4-2 Sunday afternoon at the Wallis Tennis Center.
Nansi Toskova and Denisa Gheorghe earned a win on court three in doubles action to start the contest for the Panthers. Georgia Southern would tie up play, besting Eva Chivu and Maddy Frediani on court one. With all eyes on court two, Andreea Stanescu and Ellie Aldrich remained poised, propelling Georgia State to the one-point advantage going into singles play.
Despite the early success, the Panthers could not gain footing against the Eagles in singles play. Georgia Southern cruised to victory on lines three and six to take the edge. Eva Chivu earned a 6-2, 6-2 result on court one to tie the match. Despite valiant efforts from the remaining courts, ultimately Georgia Southern would find victories over Alexia Alvarez and Nansi Toskova to take the team victory.
