Softball Drops Doubleheader to Ranked Louisiana

ATLANTA -- Georgia State fell 10-2 in Game 1 and 4-0 in Game 2 as #16/17 Louisiana took the first two contests in the three-game series at Bob Heck Field.

Louisiana used five home runs to take the first game of the day in five innings. Alyssa Brumelow hit her second home run of the season, a two-run shot in the bottom of the fifth to put GSU on the board but that would be it for the GSU offense.

Sophie Mooney got the start in the circle in Game 2 and slowed down the powerful Louisiana offense, but the Ragin' Cajuns' Kandra Lamb shutout the Panther bats, allowing just one hit with eight strikeouts.

Mooney gave GSU seven strong innings in the effort and also broke up Lamb's no-hit bid with a laser off the top of the wall in left-center in the bottom of the fifth.

GSU and Louisiana will wrap up the series Saturday at 1 p.m.
