Burke Scores First Career Goal

Box Score ATHENS, Ga. -- Senior Emily Burke scored her first career goal Thursday night in GSU's 6-1 defeat at Georgia.

The Bulldogs score two early goals in Thursday's contest, the 18th meeting between the two sides all-time.

GSU had a chance to cut UGA's lead in half on a penalty kick in the 14th minute, but the shot went over the crossbar. Just moments later, a controversial handball was called in the GSU box and Georgia capitalized on its penalty kick, making the score 3-0.

Burke, who had a pair of assists last season as a junior, put Georgia State on the board in the 69th minute with a volley that beat the UGA keeper to make it a 5-1 game.

The Bulldogs would add their final goal in the 76th.

Georgia State falls to 1-2 on the season and returns home to host Davidson Sunday at 1 p.m.
