Georgia State rushed out to a quick 7-0 lead less than three minutes into the game forcing South Alabama to quickly call a timeout.

With the Panthers leading 14-6, the Jaguars used a 10-0 run to take a 16-14 lead with just under 10 minutes to play before a 3-pointer from Roberts gave GSU the lead back.

Leading by three points, South Alabama picked up back-to-back technical fouls and following a Nsoseme jumper, Georgia State led 22-20 with 6:32 to play.

South Alabama jumped back ahead 27-23 before Georgia State used an 11-0 run which helped the Panthers go into the locker room with a 34-29 lead. The Panthers forced USA into eight first half turnovers, 19 for the game, which led to 11 first half points.

South Alabama's Lance Thomas kept the Jaguars in the game in the second half knocking down three 3-pointers in the first five minutes.

Georgia State led 42-37 following a dunk from Nsoseme before the Jaguars went on an 8-0 run to take a 45-42 lead with 13:25 to play. The Panthers would lead again by two with just under 10 minutes to play on a 3-pointer by Nelson Phillips, but unfortunately GSU would never lead again as South Alabama pushed the lead to 10, 66-56, with just 4:32 to play.
