Tehya Lyons scored 12 points as the Panthers fell 60-42 to Georgia Tech at McCamish Pavilion Thursday night.
Lyons went 4-for-8 from the field to lead all Panther scorers, and Mya Byrd added 10 points off the bench. Mikyla Tolivert chipped in with eight points and two three-pointers.Â
Deasia Merrill led all Panthers with six rebounds off the bench, and Jenae Dublin tallied two blocks.
Georgia State held Georgia Tech's offense to 32.7 percent shooting from the field but could not overcome their own offensive struggles, shooting 22.2 percent from the field. The Panthers forced 15 steals to Tech's four which led to 17 points off turnovers.
GSU trailed 34-12 with 8:14 remaining in the third quarter when they went on a 10-2 run to pull within 14. Byrd helped chip the deficit to 11 with a layup and a three-pointer, but that was as close as the Panthers would get.Â
The Panthers continue their three-game road trip on Sunday, November 13 when they travel to Tallahassee, Fla. to face another ACC foe in Florida State. Tipoff is at 2 p.m.
