Huntington, WV- Gavin Williams scores game winning goal to help send the Panthers to the Semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Championship after a 3-1 victory over Old Dominion. Georgia State scored three goals within a 10-minute span in the first half with no answer from ODU.

Georgia State entered the quarterfinal match in Huntington, WV having already defeated the Old Dominion Monarchs, 3-2, less than a week prior to Sunday night's match between the two teams.Â

The Monarchs notched the first goal of the match in the 26
th minute, the goal came after a free kick awarded to ODU and was headed in the top right corner of the net.

Max Wilkins answered their goal in the 28
th minute with a goal of his own.
Ramon Munoz ripped one into the box in perfect position for Wilkins to connect with ball for the goal.

Georgia State went on to score two more goals within two minutes in the 37
th and 39
th minutes of the match to put the Panthers up 3-1.

The game winning goal by G. Williams came after the Monarch Keeper came out to stop a ball but could not hold onto it. Williams was in the right place at the right time with a wide-open goal and no defenders to tap it in and put the Panthers in the lead.

Despite out shooting the Panthers, 15-6, in the second half the Monarchs could not answer. Panther's defense held strong In the first half, only allowing ODU five shots and two on goal, conceding one shot. The back line,
Clay Dawes, Munoz, Hilton- Jones and Evan Schroeder all had key defensive plays to help with a second half shutout.

Gunther Rankenburg had a total of seven saves, six in the second half. He currently ranks second in the Sun Belt for total saves (66) and saves per game.
