Zay Dyer recorded her second career double-double and
Deasia Merrill scored 14 points but Georgia State fell 85-58 to Clemson at the GSU Convocation Center on Sunday afternoon.
Dyer shot 5-of-8 from the field and finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Merrill just missed a double-double with eight rebounds and shot 5-of-9 from the floor to reach double-digits in her seventh straight contest.
Georgia State jumped out to a quick 7-3 lead in the first quarter on a jump shot and three-pointer by
Jenae Dublin and two free throws by
Zay Dyer, but Clemson responded with a 10-0 run to pull ahead for good.
GSU trailed by five when
Tehya Lyons made a lay-up at the buzzer that cut the deficit to 21-18 after one quarter, but the Tigers opened the second quarter with a 14-2 run to pull away and outscored Georgia State in each of the final three quarters. The Panthers couldn't overcome a barrage of 13 three-pointers by Clemson and committed a sloppy 24 turnovers.
Georgia State will travel up I-75 to face in-state rival Kennesaw State at the KSU Convocation Center on December 10. Tipoff is at 2 p.m.
