Softball Faces Western Carolina in Doubleheader Wednesday

ATLANTA – Following a five-game weekend in Florida, the Georgia State softball team will head to the mountains to face Western Carolina in a doubleheader on Wednesday.

First pitch at the Catamount Softball Complex is set for 2 p.m. The second game is tentatively set to begin at 4 p.m. Live audio and live stats of both games will be available.

Junior Bailee Richardson led Georgia State (1-4) over the weekend in the Stetson Lead Off Classic batting .444 with seven RBI. Richardson opened the season batting for the cycle on Friday and has collected 14 total bases in the first give games.

"We are looking forward to getting back on the field tomorrow to continue to work on ourselves," head coach Angie Nicholson said. "We have taken big strides and we just want to use this front end of the season to continue to learn and get stronger."

In the circle, Emily Buck earned three starts over the weekend, striking out 10 in 17.1 innings pitched.

Western Carolina (4-1) started the season strong in Florida at the River City Leadoff, including a 1-0 shutout of NC State on Sunday.

Georgia State is 11-1 all-time against WCU with the last match-up coming in 2012.

Following play on Wednesday, Georgia State will have the weekend off before returning to play at Georgia Tech next Wednesday at 5 p.m.
