Softball Faces Georgia Tech Before National TV Audience Wednesday

ATLANTA – Following a rare in-season weekend off, the Georgia State softball team will head just across town to face in-town foe Georgia Tech on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

It is the start of a busy week of games that will including the home opener for new head coach Angie Nicholson this Saturday.

The game, originally scheduled for 5 p.m., was moved up to 3 p.m., to be seen by a national television audience on ACC Network.

The game with the Yellow Jackets will mark the first of two this season with Georgia Tech which will come to the Bob Heck Softball Complex in late-April.

Junior Bailee Richardson continues to lead Georgia State (2-5) batting .417 with three home runs, five runs scored and nine RBI. She hit home runs in both games of a doubleheader with Western Carolina last week.
In 9.0 innings pitched this year, Julia Allen has combined for a 1-0 record with a 0.78 ERA.

Georgia Tech (8-2) earned three wins over the weekend at the Bulldog Kickoff Classic hosted by Mississippi State. The Yellow Jackets will host Furman on Tuesday before the match-up with Georgia State on Wednesday.

Georgia State dropped its lone match-up with the Yellow Jackets last year.

Following play on Wednesday, Georgia State will travel to Kennesaw State to face the Owls on Friday at 4:30 p.m., followed by a game with ETSU at 7 p.m. The home opener is set for Saturday hosting Jacksonville State for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
