Softball Falls to In-Town Foe Georgia Tech

Box Score ATLANTA – Starting a busy week for the Georgia State softball team, the Panthers dropped a 9-1 decision to in-town foe Georgia Tech on Wednesday afternoon at Mewborn Field.

Georgia State (2-6) was unfortunately done in by four errors including two in the first inning that led to four runs.

Georgia Tech (10-2) was led by pitcher Blake Neleman (6-1) who pitched 5.0 innings allowing just two hits and one run while striking out eight.

Emily Brown led off the game with a walk for the Panthers and managed to steal both second and third bases before being stranded at third.

The Yellow Jackets did most of their damage in the bottom half of the first scoring four before adding one in the third, along with two in the fourth and two more in the fifth.

Georgia State's lone run came in the top of the fourth as Sofia Mooney singled to third base scoring Daisy Hess.

Emily Buck (0-3) picked up the loss for the Panthers after pitching just one-third of an inning.

Georgia State will travel to Kennesaw State to face the Owls on Friday at 4:30 p.m., followed by a game with ETSU at 7 p.m. The home opener is set for Saturday hosting Jacksonville State for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
