Panthers Fall 4-2 to No. 10 Georgia Tech Despite Strong Start by Landry

ATLANTA -- Playing its fourth straight game against a ranked team, Georgia State fell 4-2 to No. 10 Georgia Tech Tuesday at the GSU Baseball Complex, despite a strong start by Panther right-hander Camren Landry.

Making just his second career start, Landry (0-2) struck out a career-high nine and allowed no earned runs in six innings, the longest outing of his career. He held Tech to four hits and walked just one, but the sophomore from John's Creek, Ga. (Centennial High School) was the tough-luck loser as the Yellow Jackets scored three unearned runs in the third inning.

Landry's nine strikeouts are the most by a GSU hurler since Hunter Gaddis in 2019. The Georgia State staff combined for 13 strikeouts on the night.

Trailing 4-1, Georgia State pulled closer in the bottom of the eighth as Cameron Jones delivered an RBI-single. The Panthers threatened for more but left the bases loaded.

Jones also drove in the Panthers' first run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning, and he finished the game on the mound with two scoreless innings, striking out three.

Georgia Tech standout Kevin Parada hit his sixth homer of the season.

Georgia State continues its homestand with a weekend series against Villanova, beginning Friday at 4 p.m. at the GSU Baseball Complex.
