Softball Falls to No. 15 Georgia 6-2

Box Score ATHENS, Ga. – The Georgia State softball team struck first at No. 15 Georgia on Wednesday night, but unfortunately was not able to hold on as the Bulldogs earned a 6-2 win at the Turner Softball Stadium.

Georgia State (7-12) was playing its fourth game in eight days against a nationally-ranked Southeastern Conference foe. Georgia won for the 14th-straight time and improved to 20-2 on the season.

Georgia State quickly got on the board in the top of the first following a double to right center by Daisy Hess scoring Bailee Richardson and Chloe Middlebrooks.

Unfortunately, Georgia added one in the bottom of the first on a fielder's choice to center field and another in the bottom of the third on a double by Sara Mosley to center.

The Bulldogs got three home runs in the bottom of the fifth by Ellie Armistead, Sydney Chambley, and Lacey Fincher to give Georgia a 6-2 lead that would hold.

Hallie Adams (1-2) took the loss for Georgia State after allowing four runs on eights hits in 4.1 innings.

Madison Kerpics (7-1) came in relief and pitched 2.0 innings allowing just two hits to earn the win.

Georgia State was seeking its first win over Georgia since back-to-back victories against the Bulldogs in 2013 and 2014.

Georgia State will jump into Sun Belt Conference play this weekend at league favorite Louisiana, beginning Friday.
