LEADING OFF

> Winners of seven in a row and off to the second-best start in program history, Georgia State makes the short trip across town to face Georgia Tech Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Mac Nease Ballpark.

> After back-to-back sweeps of South Alabama, the league's preseason favorite, and Coastal Carolina, the Panthers lead the Sun Belt Conference with a 10-2 record, one game ahead of nationally-ranked Texas State. That is the program's best conference start, including the Sun Belt as well as previous conferences.

> Georgia State's 22-10 overall record equals the second-best 32-game start in program history. The only better start was a 23-8 mark in 2011, Brad Stromdahl's final season as a GSU assistant coach.

> The Panthers are No. 31 in the RPI and are receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches and NCBWA polls.

> Georgia State leads the Sun Belt with 46 home runs, including the top two individuals in Max Ryerson with 12 and Griffin Cheney with 10. The Panthers are second in the league in batting average (.293).

> Georgia State features three Sun Belt Conference Players of the Week and two National Players of the Week in the last five weeks: 1B-LHP Cameron Jones (March 14, Sun Belt & National), Luke Boynton (March 21, Sun Belt) and Max Ryerson (April 4, Sun Belt & National).

> Junior outfielder Max Ryerson was the National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game as well as Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week on April 4 after hitting .563 (9-for-16) with four homers and 10 RBI in four games.

> Max Ryerson leads the Sun Belt with 12 home runs (No. 19 in DI) as well as hits (47), doubles (12) and total bases (95). He is second in slugging (.720), third in RBI (32) and sixth in batting average (.356).

> Super senior Griffin Cheney is second in the Sun Belt in batting average (.385) and home runs (10) and on-base pct. (.496) and slugging (.760).

> The GSU bullpen has a 17-3 record with 15 saves. That's the program's second-best season total for saves, four behind the school record of 19, set in 2009.

> The bullpen trio of Cameron Jones, Ryan Watson and Chad Treadway have combined for a 6-1 record, 14 saves and a 1.55 ERA in 31 appearances with 62 strikeouts against 10 walks.

> Junior Ryan Watson saved two wins in each of Georgia State's Sun Belt sweeps vs. Little Rock, South Alabama and Coastal Carolina. He is tied for the Sun Belt lead with seven saves on the season. The right-hander is the Panthers' active leader with 10 career saves (tied for fourth in GSU history) and 13 career victories (tied for 11th).
