LEADING OFF

> Sun Belt Conference leader Georgia State takes an eight-game winning streak into a key Sun Belt series at rival Georgia Southern, Thursday through Sunday in Statesboro.

> After back-to-back sweeps of South Alabama, the league's preseason favorite, and Coastal Carolina, the Panthers lead the Sun Belt with a 10-2 record, one game ahead of nationally-ranked Texas State and two games ahead of Georgia Southern. That is the program's best conference start, including the Sun Belt as well as previous conferences.

> Georgia State's 23-10 overall record equals the second-best 33-game start in program history. The only better start was a 23-8 mark in 2011, Brad Stromdahl's final season as a GSU assistant coach. The current eight-game winning streak equals the second-longest in school history.

> The Panthers are No. 25 in the RPI and are receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches and NCBWA polls.

> Georgia State leads the Sun Belt with 49 home runs (team's most since hitting 60 in 2014), including the top two individuals in Max Ryerson and Griffin Cheney with 12 each. The Panthers are second in the league in batting average (.296).

> Georgia State features three Sun Belt Conference Players of the Week and two National Players of the Week in the last five weeks: 1B-LHP Cameron Jones (March 14, Sun Belt & National), Luke Boynton (March 21, Sun Belt) and Max Ryerson (April 4, Sun Belt & National).

> Junior outfielder Max Ryerson was the National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game as well as Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week on April 4 after hitting .563 (9-for-16) with four homers and 10 RBI in four games.

> Max Ryerson is tied for the Sun Belt with 12 home runs (No. 21 in DI) and also leads the league in hits (49), doubles (12) and total bases (97). He is second in RBI (33) and slugging (.708) and sixth in batting average (.358).

> Super senior Griffin Cheney is tied for the Sun Belt lead with 12 home runs and also leads the league in batting average (.392) and slugging (.804)  while ranking second in on-base pct. (.496) and runs scored (32). Five of his homers have come vs. the ACC: 3 vs. Clemson, 2 vs. Georgia Tech.

> The GSU bullpen has a 17-3 record with 15 saves. That's the program's second-best season total for saves, four behind the school record of 19, set in 2009.

> The bullpen trio of Cameron Jones, Ryan Watson and Chad Treadway have combined for a 6-1 record, 14 saves and a 1.50 ERA in 33 appearances with 63 strikeouts against 10 walks.
