Gabby Benson helped the Panthers get on the board first but fall 3-2 at Texas State (22-17, 8-8 Sun Belt) in the first game of their Sun Belt Conference series at the Bobcat Softball Complex.
Singles from both Sophie Mooney and Carolyn Deady get runners on base with Benson on deck. Benson hit a 2 RBI double to bring home the two runners to get the Panthers on the board first and would be it for the rest of the game.Â
Adams (4-8), the freshman from Marietta (Pope High School), will take the loss for the Panthers. Only allowing three runs on four hits with five strikeouts, the game's long runs scored on a wild pitch and a 2 RBI Homerun in the third. Adams only allowed one hit and no runs for the rest of the game.Â
The Bobcats only allowed two hits and no runs after the second inning.
Georgia State and Texas State will be back on the diamond Friday for the second game of the series. Game 2 will air live on ESPN+ beginning at 3 p.m. ET.Â
