Women's Soccer to Open Regular Season Hosting Clayton State Thursday

ATLANTA— Coming off back-to-back wins in exhibition matches, the Georgia State women's soccer team will enter regular season competition this week and is set to face Clayton State at home on Thursday, Aug. 18. The Panthers will host the match at the GSU Soccer Complex at 7 p.m. ET.

Thursday's match will kick off the fall 2022 regular season for the Panthers and will serve as the first of eight consecutive non-conference outings for the team before opening Sun Belt Conference competition on Sunday, Sep. 18 against South Alabama. 

Elena Diaz accounted for two goals in the Panthers' exhibition matches facing Truett McConnell and Stetson. The junior midfielder currently leads the team in scoring.

Admission is free for students and fans at GSU's season opener, and live scoring will be available with links to be posted on the Panthers' schedule page via the web as well as the team's social media pages.
