Panthers Travel Across Atlanta for Matchup Against Georgia Tech Sunday

THE TIPOFF: The Panthers look to extend their 4-2 record as GSU heads across Atlanta to face Georgia Tech on Dec. 10 at 2:00 p.m. The Panthers are coming off of a 12-day break after posting a season-high 90 points in their road victory against Western Carolina on Nov. 28.

> GSU set season-highs for field goal percentage (.541) and 3-pointers (12), and matched a season-high 16 steals in their last match against Western Carolina (Nov. 28).  

> The Panthers rank second in the Sun Belt in blocks (4.0) and steals (12.8) per game. GSU is also ranked third in the Sun Belt in bench points, averaging 27.0 per game. 

> Preseason All-Sun Belt guard Mikyla Tolivert leads GSU in scoring (13.0 ppg) and free throw percentage (.853), which ranks third in the Sun Belt. The Junior Guard put up a season-high seven rebounds and five field goals against Bethune-Cookman in the Thanksgiving Tournament on Nov. 22. The versatile junior guard made a big leap in her sophomore season, averaging a team-high 14.3 points in 2023-23. She shot 82.7 percent from the free throw line to rank fourth in the Sun Belt. 

> Veteran leader Deasia Merrill leads the Panthers in rebounding (6.8 rpg) and ranks third in the Sun Belt for blocks per game (1.4). Merrill set a season-high 12 points at Western Carolina on Nov. 28 to help the Panthers to a 90-57 victory over the Catamounts. The 6-1 senior from Villa Rica, Ga., was second on the team in the 2022-23 season with 13.6 points per game, along with a team-leading 7.2 rebounds. She ranked 11th in the Sun Belt in scoring and 10th in rebounding.

> Junior post player Alyssa Phillip, who has seen the most time on the court, leads the Panthers squad in rebounds, averaging 7.2 rebounds per game. Phillip averages 3.7 ppg on the season after posting 22 points in six games. Phillip averaged 3.5 ppg and 5.2 rpg in the 2022-23 season. 

> Veteran guard Kamryn Dziak posted a season-high three 3-pointers and three rebounds in the Panthers victory over Western Carolina. Dziak averages 5.8 ppg and 1.3 rpg on the season. The graduate ranks top ten in the program after tallying 108 career 3-pointers. The graduate Panther averaged 4.8 points in 2021-22.

> The Panthers' cast of newcomers includes experienced transfers such as Patience Williams (USF), Mya Williams (Hutchinson C.C.), Erin Turral (Stony Brook), Aniya Palmer (Mississippi State) and Kaleigh Addie (Xavier) as well as promising freshmen like Crystal Henderson (Kell High School), Eghosa Obasuyi (Carrollton) and Aaliyah Hunt (Peachtree Ridge).

SERIES VS. GEORGIA TECH: Georgia State and Georgia Tech, which plays in the Atlantic Coast Conference, are meeting for the 27th time in program history. The Panthers are 1-26 on the series after falling 42-60 on the road against the Yellow Jackets on Nov. 10, 2022. The Panthers have gone 1-13 on the road against Georgia Tech. 

> Georgia State's lone win in the series was on Dec. 18, 1998 when the Panthers defeated the Yellow Jackets 66-56 on the road. 
 

After going head-to-head with Georgia Tech in their home state, Georgia State travels to Winthrop (Dec.14) and Clemson (Dec.14) before returning home to matchup with LaGrange College on Dec. 19.
