ATLANTA – Georgia State (12-17, 1-3 Sun Belt) tops Coastal Carolina (24-8, 1-3 Sun Belt) for their first Sun Belt Conference win of the season.
The game started off slow with nothing going for either team until the third inning when Coastal blasted a solo home run to get on the board.
Emily Brown hit a triple in the sixth,
Jaycee Goodwin was walked, and both would score after a two rbi single by
Chloe Nadler to take the lead over the Chanticleers. That would be all it would take as the defense held the Chanticleers in the seventh for the win.
Emily Brown continues her hit streak with a hit in the last six games and scored seven times in the last five games. She went 1-3 and scored one run in the game.
Elle Doolittle (6-3) pitched a complete game, after pitching 9.1 innings on Wednesday, to earn the win.
The Panthers will take on Coastal Carolina in game two of the series tomorrow in the annual breast cancer awareness game. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
