Hamilton, Lane Lead Georgia State Past Toccoa Falls

ATLANTA -- Jelani Hamilton collected 30 points and Toneari Lane added 20 as the Georgia State men's basketball team took down the Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles 106-66 at home Monday.

Hamilton and Lane's stellar scoring performances led the Panthers (2-2) in the contest. Hamilton tacked on seven rebounds and four steals. Clash Peters also helped out with eight points, 13 rebounds and two steals.

The Georgia State offense was very productive from behind the three point line, knocking down 14 threes on 38 attempts. Lane was the most prolific shooter for the Panthers, draining six treys in the contest.

Georgia State forced 19 Toccoa Falls turnovers while committing 13 themselves in Monday's game. The Panthers turned those takeaways into 31 points on the other end of the floor. Malachi Brown's five steals led the way for Georgia State.

How It Happened

After jumping out to a 20-17 advantage, Georgia State went on a 7-0 run with 9:27 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Hamilton, to increase its lead to 27-17. The Panthers then added six points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 48-32 advantage. Georgia State did most of its first half damage in the paint, scoring 26 of its 48 points close to the basket.

Following intermission, Georgia State kept widening that lead, expanding it to 59-36 before going on a 9-0 run, finished off by Hamilton's jumper, to grow the lead to 68-36 with 15:17 to go in the contest. The Panthers kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 106-66 win. Georgia State shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting nine shots from deep to score 27 of its 58 points.
