Georgia State Sweeps Robert Morris for Day One of the I-75 Challenge

ATLANTA, GA-- Tied at eight in the bottom of the seventh, Chloe Natdler notched a two-run home run to solidify a 2-0 sweep over Robert Morris on Friday afternoon. 

GAME 1 | Georgia State 4, Robert Morris 2

ATLANTA, GA --Junior Sydney Boulware dominated on Friday, fanning 12 Robert Morris hitters over seven innings of work to help lead the Georgia State Panthers past the Colonials 4-2.

In addition to her 12 strikeouts, Boulware (1-5) tossed seven innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on three hits and walking five for Georgia State (3-10).

Offensively, the Panthers were paced by senior Kiki Edwards, who went 1-for-1 on the day with a double and two RBI. Freshman Payton Nicholson put together a noteworthy performance as well, going 2-for-3. Sophomore Maia Mumpfield also contributed for Georgia State, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Georgia State scored twice on a two-run double off the bat of Edwards.

The Colonials then tied the ballgame at two before the Panthers came back to reclaim their advantage in the third inning. Georgia State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Mumpfield, which brought the score to 3-2 in favor of the Panthers.

Georgia State kept Robert Morris scoreless before building their lead to 4-2 in the fifth inning. The Panthers scored once on an RBI single off the bat of freshman Jordan Rayner. The score remained 4-2 for the rest of the game, as Georgia State held on for the win.

ATLANTA, GA --The Georgia State Panthers earned a win in walk-off fashion, responding to score three in the bottom of the seventh after Robert Morris tied it up in the top half, sealing the victory on senior Chloe Nadler's three-run home run off of senior J. Garver to knock off the Colonials 11-8 Friday.

Freshman Makayla Stephens (1-0) got the win for Georgia State (4-10). The right-hander went four innings, giving up four runs, all of them earned, on nine hits, allowing two walks and striking out two.

Nadler led the way offensively for the Panthers, going 2-for-5 in the ballgame with two home runs and six RBI. Sophomore Maia Mumpfield provided a standout performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk and two RBI. Senior Carolyn Deady also chipped in, going 2-for-3 for Georgia State with a home run, a walk and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers were trailing 2-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Georgia State's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a three-run home run off the bat of Nadler.

The Panthers then lost some of their lead, expanding on their advantage in the fifth inning after the Colonials cut it to 4-3. Georgia State scored three times, with an output that included home runs from both Deady and Mumpfield, which brought the Panthers lead to 7-3.

Robert Morris narrowed Georgia State's lead to 7-6 before the Panthers stretched the advantage to 8-6 in the sixth inning.

Robert Morris then rallied to tie the ballgame at 8-8 before Georgia State walked it off in the bottom of the seventh on Nadler's three-run homer off of Garver.
