Will Mize hit three home runs and drove in seven runs as Georgia State swept a doubleheader at Western Carolina (4-6), 5-3 and 14-7, Saturday at Hennon Stadium.

Ryan Dyal also homered for Georgia State (4-6), while starter
Rob Evans and reliever Sam Schofield earned the victories on the mound.

GAME 1: GEORGIA STATE 5, WESTERN CAROLINA 3

Michael Maginnis homered to lead Georgia State to a 5-3 victory over Western Carolina in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader.
Evans (2-1), the sophomore right-hander, allowed just one run on five hits over six innings with eight strikeouts and just one walk. Sophomore righty
Brady Jones pitched the final three innings to earn his first save, allowing two unearned runs on two hits with three strikeouts.
Ruiz and Mize hit solo homers in the top of the first inning to give the Panthers a lead they would not surrender.
After Western Carolina pushed across a run the fourth, the score remained 2-1 until the seventh, when
Jesse Donohoe delivered a two-out, RBI single to extend the GSU advantage to 3-1.
Maginnis added a 2-run homer, his second of the season, in the eighth for a 5-1 lead. Western Carolina closed the gap with two unearned runs in the bottom half on a two-run single by Zach Ketterman, but Jones retired the Catamounts in order in the ninth to seal the win.Â

GAME 2: GEORGIA STATE 14, WESTERN CAROLINA 7
Will Mize homered twice and drove in six runs and
Ryan Dyal a homered to lead Georgia State to a 14-7 win and complete a doubleheader sweep at Western Carolina.
Dyal's three-run blast in the first inning gave GSU a 5-0 lead, and the Panthers never looked back.
Mize's three-run homer in the second extended the lead to 8-0. Georgia State added two more in the third on a run-scoring by
Taylor Shultz and a passed ball before Western Carolina got on the board with three runs in the bottom of the third.
Mize, the fifth-year senior third baseman from Snellville, Ga., and Brookwood High School, hit another three-run homer in the sixth.
Freshman right-hander
Ross Norman started and pitched three innings before giving way to another freshman, Sam Schofield (1-1), who pitch 3.1 innings to earn his first victory. Senior
Duncan Lutz finished the game with 2.1 scoreless innings.Â
