ATHENS, Ga. --Four pitchers combined to toss a shutout on Wednesday as the No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs blanked the Georgia State Panthers 5-0.
Freshman Makayla Stephens (2-6) got the ball to start for Georgia State (10-28) and took the loss.
In the batter's box, the Panthers were paced by freshman Jordan Rayner, who went 1-for-3 on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Georgia State did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Panthers went 0-for-1 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the seventh, when sophomore Maya Montague made it into scoring position with one out.
GAME NOTES
» Georgia State pitchers faced 27 Georgia hitters in the game, allowing three ground balls and 13 fly balls while striking out two.
» Rayner led the Panthers at the plate, going 1-for-3.
» Georgia was led offensively by senior Sydney Chambley, who went 1-for-2 with a home run and an RBI.
» Senior Madison Kerpics led the Bulldogs pitching staff, throwing three scoreless innings.
