NASHVILLE, TN --The Georgia State volleyball team defeated the Tennessee State Lady Tigers in four sets (25-16, 10-25, 25-18, 25-22) Friday on the road at Kean Hall Gymnasium.
The out-of-conference win moved the Panthers' overall record to 5-2 on the season.
The Panthers were led by a double-double from Keionna MacKey, who registered 12 kills and 11 digs on the day. Peyton Gash also added 11 kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Shanelle Martinez chipped in for with 13 digs to go with six blocks from Kamryn Itzen.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Panthers grabbed control on the first point and never trailed to secure the first set 25-16. Georgia State opened up its biggest lead, nine points, to finish off the set.
SET 2 | Georgia State then lost the second set 25-10, evening the match at a set apiece. Georgia State trailed by as many as 15 points as Tennessee State grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 in a set that was knotted up just once before the Lady Tigers took over the lead.
SET 3 | Georgia State then got back on the winning track, emerging victorious in set three and taking a two sets to one lead in the match. The Panthers won the set 25-18. Georgia State took the lead for good at 8-7 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Panthers took over the lead. Georgia State's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Tennessee State attacks in the stanza.
SET 4 | Georgia State kept the momentum going, earning the match win with a 25-22 fourth-set victory. A strong showing on the attacking side led the Panthers to victory in the set. Georgia State put together a .310 attack percentage with 16 kills in the set win. After the lead changed hands three times, the Panthers took control for good at 16-15 and rode that advantage to victory.
Georgia State will take on Bethune-Cookman and Mississippi Valley State at the Tiger Invitational on Sept. 14.Â
