Brown's Dagger Shot Leads Georgia State Past Coastal Carolina 79-74

ATLANTA, GA --Malachi Brown hit a dagger 3-pointer with 35 seconds left in the fourth quarter to put Georgia State ahead 77-70, and the Panthers earned a 79-74 victory against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at home Saturday.

The Panthers (7-10, 3-2) had four players score in double figures, led by Zarique Nutter, who had 23 points and two steals. Toneari Lane tacked on 19 points and six rebounds and Cesare Edwards chipped in as well with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Georgia State pulled down 37 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to Coastal Carolina's 28, led by Edwards' nine boards. The Panthers also put in work on the offensive glass, turning 12 rebounds into 15 second chance points.

How It Happened

Georgia State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 44-31 heading into halftime.

After intermission, Georgia State managed to gain control and had a 72-70 lead before going on a 7-0 run to grow the lead to 79-70 with 18 seconds to go in the contest. The Chanticleers narrowed the margin somewhat before the game was over, but the Panthers still held on for the 79-74 win. Georgia State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 15 of its 48 total points.
