ATLANTA, GA --Nick McMullen, Toneari Lane and Cesare Edwards each notched at least 20 points to help lead the Georgia State men's basketball team past the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns 94-70 at home Saturday.
"I think our guys have finally put together, for the most part, a complete game in terms of the thoughtfulness we put toward making the right plays," head coach Joans Hayes said. "[I] loved the energy tonight said, but we just have to keep moving forward."
The Panthers (5-10, 1-2) had four players score in double figures, led by McMullen, who had a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Lane added 21 points and four assists and Edwards helped out with 20 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.
Georgia State shared the ball well in Saturday's game, racking up 17 assists on 32 made field goals. Individually, Malachi Brown dished out the most for the Panthers with four assists.
Georgia State's defense held Louisiana to only 20 percent shooting from beyond the arc and 35.7 percent from the field.
How It Happened
After falling behind 13-12, Georgia State went on an 11-0 run with 13:26 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Lane, to take a 23-13 lead. The Panthers then added nine points to that lead by the end of the period and entered halftime with a 51-32 advantage.
Georgia State kept its lead intact before going on a 6-0 run to grow the lead to 92-70 with 32 seconds to go in the contest. The Panthers kept expanding the margin and coasted the rest of the way for the 94-70 win. Georgia State took care of business in the paint, recording 22 of its 43 points in the lane.
