ATLANTA – Georgia State scored a run in every inning on offense to back a strong outing from
Caleb White and win 16-2 over Alabama A&M to take the series on Saturday afternoon at the GSU Baseball Complex.
The win gave Georgia State (8-2) their best 10-game start to a season since 2011. Current head coach
Brad Stromdahl was an assistant coach on that 2011 Panthers squad.
A senior from Van, Texas,
Caleb White (2-1) dominated the Bulldog bats with a career-high eight strikeouts in six innings and allowed just one run on five hits.
Four Panther pitchers combined to hold Alabama A&M to two runs on eight hits with 10 strikeouts and no walks.
Virgil Heath made his collegiate debut in the eighth inning and allowed only one hit with two strikeouts in a scoreless inning.
Carlos Carmona came on to pitch in the ninth and retired all three batters he faced to end the game.
GSU blasted 16 runs on 15 hits and capitalized on 12 walks and four errors by Alabama A&M (2-8) to complete the series victory.

Michael Maginnis and
Jae Williams each led GSU at the plate with two hits. Williams was a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI's.
Austin Sellers and Jack Holley each recorded their first collegiate hit; Sellers, a two-run single up the middle in the seventh, and Holley, a solo home run in the eighth. Holley was one of four Panthers to hit a home run during the game.
Kaleb Freeman led off the game with a solo home run in the first, William Magginis hit a three-run homer in the second, and Donohoe hit his solo home run in the eighth right before Holley's first-career blast.
The Panthers jumped out front quickly with two runs on three hits with two errors in the first, and blew the game open with five runs on two hits with one error to pull away for good.
Georgia State will go for the series sweep on Sunday, March 2 at the GSU Baseball Complex at 1 p.m.
