ATLANTA – Georgia State fell 20-0 in seven innings to Georgia Southern in the opening game of this weekend's series at the GSU Baseball Complex on Friday night.
With heavy rain in the forecast for Sunday, the series will conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 2 p.m.
Georgia Southern (16-9, 4-3 Sun Belt) collected 20 runs on 18 hits, including two home runs and eight doubles, scoring at least once in every inning.
For Georgia State (17-11, 4-3 Sun Belt), William Maginnis tripled in the second inning, and
Jesse Donohoe and
Kaleb Freeman hit a double in the fourth and fifth inning respectively. Freeman's double extended his season-total to 18. The senior from Flowery Branch, Ga. entered the game ranked first in the nation for total doubles on the year.
Austin Killingsworth tallied his first collegiate hit in the sixth inning, and
Nick Garagozzo recorded a single to right field in the seventh.
