Freeman, Donohoe Earn SBC Postseason Honors

ATLANTA — Georgia State Baseball standouts Kaleb Freeman and Jesse Donohoe have been recognized with postseason honors by the Sun Belt Conference, the conference announced Monday afternoon. 

Freeman was named the 2025 Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Sun Belt Second Team, while Donohoe was selected to the All-Sun Belt First Team. The pair's performances powered the Panthers to one of the most explosive offensive campaigns in the league this season.

Freeman's Newcomer honors come after delivering one of the most complete and impactful offensive seasons in the Sun Belt Conference. Starting all 56 games, Freeman batted .349 with a .504 on-base percentage and a staggering .732 slugging percentage. He totaled 73 hits, 28 doubles, 16 home runs, 46 RBIs and 65 runs scored, pacing the Panthers in nearly every offensive category.

In Sun Belt play, Freeman was even more dominant. He hit .345 over 30 conference games, with 14 doubles, 11 home runs and 91 total bases. He scored 32 runs and drove in 25, maintaining a slugging percentage of .784 and an on-base percentage of .476. His plate discipline and approach were elite, drawing 27 walks. Freeman led the Sun Belt Conference in doubles (28), slugging percentage (.732), runs scored (65) and total bases (153). He also ranked in the top five in on-base percentage (.504), home runs (16) and hits (73) across all competition.

On the defensive side, Freeman also made valuable contributions, recording 100 assists and helping turn 19 double plays while maintaining a .961 fielding percentage. Kaleb Freeman's combination of power, consistency, speed (15-for-18 in stolen bases) and leadership anchored the Georgia State offense and made him one of the most well-rounded performers in the Sun Belt.

Donohoe's earned honors come after anchoring the hot corner for the Panthers with a powerful and consistent presence on both sides of the ball. Starting all 56 games for the Panthers, Donohoe posted a .282 batting average with 59 hits, 17 home runs, 48 RBIs and 52 runs scored. He drew 48 walks on the season, helping him reach base at a .414 clip while slugging .598.

In Sun Belt play, Donohoe elevated his game further, batting .319 with 11 home runs, eight doubles, 29 RBIs and 36 hits over 30 league games. He slugged .681 with a .432 on-base percentage, helping power the Georgia State offense to one of the top home run and total base marks in the conference. Donohoe finished the season 5th in the Sun Belt in runs scored (52), tied for third in home runs (17) and ranked eighth in both slugging percentage (.598) and OPS (1.012). He also ranked third in the league in walks (48).

Defensively, Donohoe was a steady and reliable third baseman, recording 85 putouts, 65 assist, and 9 errors across the season for a .943 fielding percentage.
