Panthers Fall to Ole Miss in Season Opener

OXFORD, MISS. -- Georgia State fell 63-7 to Ole Miss on the road Saturday night.

The Rebels improved to 1-0 on the season while the Panthers dropped to 0-1.

Rashad Amos led all Panthers rushers with 68 yards in the contest, picking up 7.6 yards per carry. Tj Peyton also added 55 yards on the ground, averaging 13.8 yards per carry.

Javon Robinson reeled in three catches for 52 yards and one score.

Chams Diagne showed out for the Georgia State defense, collecting five tackles and one interception. Jordan Huff added eight tackles, 1.0 TFL, and one interception and Josiah Robinson had four tackles, 1.0 TFL, and one sack in the loss.

The Panthers won the turnover battle in Saturday's game, forcing two turnovers while coughing the ball up one time.

The Panthers defense disrupted the Ole Miss passing attack on the way to recording two interceptions and breaking up five Rebels passes.

How It Happened

After Ole Miss jumped out to a 17-0 lead, Georgia State got on the scoreboard with 5:19 left in the second quarter to narrow the margin to 17-7. Georgia State didn't score again in the game and Ole Miss tacked on 46 more points to finish off the scoring.
