ATLANTA — Georgia State forward Aaliyah Faddoul has been named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Faddoul powered the Panthers to a 4-2 victory over Southern Miss in Sunday's Sun Belt opener, scoring two goals, including the eventual game-winner. The junior forward found the back of the net in the 50th minute to restore Georgia State's two-goal advantage before sealing the match with her second strike in the 84th minute.
The Toronto, Ontario native finished the afternoon with a game-high eight shots, six of them on target, as she consistently pressured the Golden Eagles' defense and created scoring opportunities for her teammates.
Faddoul's brace marked her first multi-goal performance of the season and helped the Panthers improve to 5-3-1 overall and 1-0 in Sun Belt play.
This is the third time she has been Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week in her career.
