Panthers Aim for Second Straight Sun Belt Win Against Mountaineers

ATLANTA – Georgia State women's soccer (5-3-1, 1-0 Sun Belt) returns home to the GSU Soccer Complex Thursday night to host Appalachian State in its first Sun Belt home match of the season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the match will stream live on ESPN+.

Panthers Open Sun Belt Play in Style

The Panthers opened conference play with a convincing 4-2 victory vs Southern Miss on Sunday. Junior forward Aaliyah Faddoul scored twice, while Hina Suzuki and Emily Glenn each added goals to power the offense.

Faddoul's performance earned her Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week honors, the first Panther to win the award this season. She now has three goals and five assists (11 points) on the year, leading the team in points.

Suzuki leads GSU with five goals, while Glenn has four. Reese Gordon (three goals, one assist) and Sunniyah Tucker (two goals, three assists) give the Panthers a balanced attack that has produced 22 goals through nine matches.

Goalkeeper Ariana Anderson has started every game this season, recording 38 saves with three shutouts.

The Panthers and the Mountaineers played to a 1-1 draw last season on Oct. 4, 2024.  The Panthers hold a 10-3-2 advantage in the past meetings between the two schools.
