Cheyenne Holloman Honored with 2026 Kay Yow Servant Leader Award

ATLANTA — Georgia State Women's Basketball graduate student-athlete Cheyenne Holloman has been named a recipient of the 2026 Kay Yow Servant Leader Award, recognizing her servant heart and commitment to making a positive impact beyond the court. 

Presented annually by the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, this honor celebrates collegiate athletes who embody the spirit and values of legendary NC State Head Coach Kay Yow. A trailblazer in women's sports, Yow was not only an Olympic gold medalist and Naismith Hall of Fame inductee, but also a visionary leader whose impact extended far beyond the court. 

After battling breast cancer for over 20 years, Yow founded the Kay Yow Cancer Fund in 2007. The organization champions advanced cancer research works to improve quality of life for those affected and brings underserved communities together in the fight against women's cancers. 

"When you hear Yow's story and see her [Holloman] work, it's clear every day that she truly believes in the importance of giving back and serving," Coach Gene Hill said. "She is a constant reminder, not just to the coaches, but to the players as well, of why it matters." 

Since its founding, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund has become a national leader in fighting all cancers affecting women, providing strength, courage and hope to countless individuals. Holloman's recognition continues the fund's tradition of honoring athletes who follow Yow's example of service and leadership. 

"This recognition means so much as it reflects my hard work and perseverance," Holloman said. "After everything I went through with my health and having to take a year off, I'm grateful the coaches chose me. To have my effort recognized is an honor, and I'm proud to represent both this team and my school."
