YOUNGSVILLE, La. — The Georgia State Panthers (5-4, 0-0 SBC) completed day two of the Mardi Gras Mambo with a challenging pair of games on Saturday, falling 1-0 to Nicholls before an 11-1 loss to Sam Houston.
The Panthers were backed by strong pitching performances from junior Makayla Stephens, who combined for 17 strikeouts on the day, but could not overcome the late offensive pushes.
GAME 1: NICHOLLS 1, GSU 0
Georgia State had one opportunity with runners in scoring position, going 0-for-2 with junior
Bella Morton reaching third base in the first inning. Stephens delivered a complete-game effort in the circle, fanning nine Colonels hitters and limiting Nicholls to just 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position.

Stephens struck out eight Bearkats over five innings in a solid effort.
