Panthers Rally Late to Edge South Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. — Georgia State softball rallied late to erase a one-run deficit, using a two-RBI single in the seventh to secure a 4-3 comeback victory over the South Alabama Jaguars on Friday night at Jaguar Field.

Makayla Stephens went the distance in the circle, tossing a complete game. Stephens struck out six and worked around three walks, holding South Alabama scoreless over the final six innings after a three-run first.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Georgia State wasted no time jumping in front, plating two runs in the top of the first inning. Lauren Brister launched a two-run home run to left center, scoring McKenzie Walker and giving the Panthers an early 2-0 lead.

South Alabama answered immediately in the bottom half, using two solo home runs and a double to take a 3-2 advantage.

The game remained scoreless from the second through the sixth as Stephens settled in. Georgia State broke through in the seventh, capitalizing on two-RBI single from Maya Bagsby to complete the comeback.
