AUBURN, Ala. -- Georgia State and Auburn played to a 1-1 tie Sunday on the road at Auburn Soccer Complex.
The tie moved Georgia State's record to 2-2-1 overall and is its second result against an SEC opponent in the last two years.
How it Happened
The scoring started early, when Auburn broke the 0-0 tie with a goal from Dylan Driver in the 13th minute. The goal came off an assist by Kennedy Husbands and Jordyn Crosby.
The Panthers responded just nine minutes later, when Aaliyah Faddoul stole the ball and found the back of the goal in the 22nd minute. It was Faddoul's seventh goal of the season.
Junior goalkeeper Alondra Iriarte recorded three saves in the first half to keep the game tied in the first half. In the 37th minute, Auburn's Grace Ivey was shown a red card and the Panthers went a player up, but could not take advantage.
In the second half, Auburn's Ayana Yapo recorded a save to maintain the tie but the Panthers played aggressive, pressing upfield. However, in the 74th minute, sophomore defender Lily Sawyer was shown her own red card and the game finished with 10 players on each side.
Georgia State will return home to Atlanta to face ETSU on Thursday, Sep. 3 at 7:00 p.m. ET at the GSU Soccer Complex.
