Career

One of the best all-around statistical four-year players in Panther history...Finished his career at Georgia State as the all-time leader in walks (120)  and second in sacrifice hits (28)...Finished tied for second on the all-time games played list with 214, as well as tied for fourth with 716 at bats...Tied for sixth on the all-time hits list with 209, one of only nine players in Georgia State history with over 200 hits...Stands third on the runs scored list with 150 and tied for tenth all-time in stolen bases with 31...Finishes his career with 132 runs batted in, ninth best in school history.

 

2009

During his senior season, named CAA Player of the Week on April 6th...Earned SEBaseball.com All-Colonial Preseason Second Team honors...Hit two home runs and drove in eight RBIs against Delaware on April 4th, tying the school record, shared with three others of eight RBI’s in a game... Had four hits in a game against Alabama State on April 9th...In setting the school record for walks, earned four free passes against Oglethorpe, tying and breaking the record in the same game...Walked four times in a game twice during the season (Cleveland State and Oglethorpe), tying the school record shared by five others...During his senior season, collected 18 multi-hit games, including seven three-hit games, while also tying for second on the team with 12 multi-RBI games...Played in 58 games, tied for the sixth most in a single season...Had a season-high 12-game hitting streak during the middle of the season, in which he had eight multi-hit games, including a four-hit game against Alabama State.

 

2008

Named to All-CAA Third-Team after finishing sixth on the team in batting and leading the club with 37 walks ... Finished season tied for third on team with 19 multi-hit games and also tied for third with 10 multi-RBI games ... Named CAA Player of the Week after hitting .636 (7-for-11) with a home run, two doubles, seven RBIs and seven runs scored in four-game series against Jackson State (2/26) ... Went 3-for-4 with a double, triple, RBI and two runs scored against Tennessee Tech (3/4) ... Posted a .379 average during seven-game hitting streak with a double, homer and nine runs scored (3/30-4/12) ... Went 2-for-5 with a double and three runs scored against No. 22 UNC Wilmington (4/11) ... Homered and drove in three runs while going 2-for-5 against Hofstra (4/26) ... Had a perfect day, going 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored against Delaware (5/2) ... Finished season with five-game hitting streak (5/11-5/17) and reached base in his final seven games.

 

2007

Finished first on team with seven sacrifice bunts, second with 26 walks and third with eight stolen bases ... Had 15 multi-hit games and completed season third on the team with eight multiple-RBI games ... His 211 at-bats rank him 10th in single-season at-bats at Georgia State...Went 3-for-5 against Alabama State (2/17)...Drove in three runs and scored two with a double and home run in win against No. 15 Georgia Tech (2/21)...Had five RBIs and scored eight runs while going 6-for-11 in three-game sweep of Mississippi Valley State (3/2-3)...Tripled and drove in a run with a 3-for-6 performance in victory over Delaware (4/1)...Went 4-for-6 with three RBIs, three runs scored and a double in win at William and Mary (4/8)...Doubled twice to drive in three runs and scored three times in win against James Madison (4/28)...Went 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored against Hofstra (5/4).

 

2006

Drove in a run and scored another in first collegiate start against Georgia Tech (2/15) ... Singled while walking twice and driving in two runs against Albany (2/26) ... Collected first collegiate double against College of Charleston while going 2-for-2 off the bench (3/4) ... Belted his first college home run and doubled with two RBIs against Old Dominion (3/17) ... Went 2-for-2 with two doubles, two walks and three runs scored against Towson (4/7) ... Doubled and scored two runs against UNC Wilmington (4/21) ... Had a triple, two RBIs and a run scored as part of a 3-for-4 day in win over George Mason (5/7).

 

Prep

Childers played baseball for the North Cobb Christian High School Eagles ... He batted .405 as a sophomore, .470 as a junior and .476 as a senior ... His team won the state championship in 2003 ... Named to the All-Region team in 2003, 2004 and 2005 ... Childers earned All-State honors in 2003 and 2004, while also being named Team MVP in each of those years.

Chase was born on Aug. 21, 1986, in Nashville, Tenn., to Charles and Nancy Childers ... Has a younger brother, Chance...Plans to finish his degree in political science.
