Biography

AT GEORGIA STATE:

Perique finished his two-year Panthers career with averages of 10.2 points and 3.9 rebounds in 57 games. The 6-8 forward also had 35 steals, 38 assists, 13 blocked shots and 16 three-point baskets.

Scored in double-figures in 29 games during his career. He put his name in the school record book by playing 49 minutes (of the possible 50) in the double overtime win over Towson.

2006-07 SEASON:

Led Georgia State and ranked seventh in the CAA with a 15.6 scoring average . . . His 48.9% field goal shooting led the was good for No. 6 in the league ... Averaged 5.0 rebounds, also second on the team and No. 15 in the league . . . Just missed all-conference honors, finishing 16th (92 points) in voting for the 15-man all-CAA team.

Scored in double figures in 25 of 30 games, including the final 14 games of the season . . . Top scoring game was 29 points at Alabama State . . . Produced his only career double-double with 26 points and 14 rebounds in the double overtime win over Towson at the Sports Arena, when he played 49 of the 50 minutes, a school record . . . Topped 20 points in three other games with 23 at Northeastern, 22 at Georgia Tech, and 20 at Towson . . . His other double-figure rebounds game was against Florida State.

Named CAA Player of the Week, the first in Georgia State history, on Dec. 18, 2006 after scoring 29 points and grabbing eight rebounds to help the Panthers to a 64-56 win at Alabama State. Scored 11 key points during a 17-point Panthers second-half burst to turn a four-point deficit into an 11-point lead. Hit 9-of-17 field goals and 10-of-13 free throws in the 29-point effort.

Best shooting games included 8-11 (.875) in the win over Northeastern, 7-10 (.700) at Hofstra, 7-11 (.636) at George Mason, and a pair of 8-13 games against Charleston and at Delaware.

Got to the free throw line 205 times, fourth most in the CAA. He had a perfect 10-10 game at Georgia Tech and had a streak of 14 consecutive made. He had three games with a perfect 4-4 from the line.

2005-06 SEASON:

As a junior in his first year at Georgia State, Perique played in 27 of the 29 games and got one start while logging 323 minutes of action. He finished the season with 117 points (4.3 per game), 72 rebounds (2.7 per game), 16 steals, eight assists and six blocks.

Perique scored in double figures four times as a Panther, topped by a 21-point day at William & Mary when he hit 6-of-9 field goals and 9-of-14 free throws, to go with five rebounds and three steals. He had 11 points in the win at Savannah State with a perfect 4-of-4 from the field, plus 10 points in the win over Alabama State (4-of-5 FG) and 10 points vs. Hofstra.

 

 

His best rebounding total for the season was seven at Charleston, which topped the five boards he had produced in three previous games (UNC Wilmington, William & Mary and Savannah State). His other bests included three steals at William & Mary and two steals at Charleston.

JUNIOR COLLEGE:

In 2003-04, averaged 16.7 points per game at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in Miami, Okla. . . . Helped the Golden Norsemen to a 25-8 record and the district title . . .  Season-best game was 21-points.

Played at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College in 2002-03 . . . Team won the conference and advanced to the NJCAA Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas . . . Top game was 17 points.

Also attended Delgado College in New Orleans in 2004-05, but did not play basketball.

HIGH SCHOOL:

All-Metro, All-District and All-State at John F. Kennedy High School in New Orleans, La. . . . Led the state of Louisiana with a 27-point average as a senior, after averaging 21 points as a junior . . . Top game was a 45-point effort versus Westbury Christian Academy (Texas) in a tournament of top national teams . . . Led Kennedy to a 34-3 record as a senior. . . Nominated for the McDonald’s All-America team . . .  Spent one semester at Mt. Zion Academy in the fall of the 2001 but returned to Kennedy in the spring to earn his high school diploma in May, 2002.

Played AAU basketball for the DCSO Adidas Team . . . Once scored 62 points in an AAU game . . . Chosen to play in the Vegas Big Time Tournament.

PERSONAL:

Lance Joseph Perique was born in New Orleans, La., on Feb. 17, 1983. He is one of three sons of Joseph and Anita Perique . . . Family home on the east side of New Orleans was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The family had evacuated before the levee broke and has since settled in Atlanta . . . Majoring Lance in sociology at Georgia State.
