Biography

AT GSU: Four-year Panther who finished her career as one of the top attackers in the CAA... The outside hitter played 114 total matches in a GSU uniform and finished sixth all-time with 2,793 attack attempts... Owns school records for attempts in a three (45) and four-set match (69)... Finished just outside the school's career top 10 in kills (930), total points (1,128) and aces (107)... Named to Athletic Director's Honor Roll for achievement in the classroom.

2011: Career-year made her one of the CAA's best, earning third-team all-conference honors after finishing second in the conference with 3.71 kills per set and 4.22 points per set... Led GSU in both categories... Finished among the top 85 players in the nation in kills... Leaned on more than any other CAA player as her 1,361 attack attempts led the league and were second in GSU single-season history... Set a school record for attempts in a three-set match with 45 Sep. 13 at Mercer and 69 Sep. 3 against College of Charleston... Set a single-match best with 29 kills against Harvard Sep. 3 en route to all-GSU Invitational honors... Also took home all-tournament honors at Memphis Invitational to begin the year... 18 digs at Kennesaw State Sep. 20 were a career high, as were 32 total points against Harvard... Also one of Panthers' top defensive players with 340 digs... Had a team-leading 16 double-doubles on the year as she failed to reach either double-digit kills or digs in only three of 31 matches played... Finished season on 10-match streak with at least 10 digs, posting a double-double in eight of the team's last nine outings... Led all players with 17 kills and 15 digs in CAA Tournament quarterfinals against James Madison, also posting two aces and two block assists vs. the Dukes... 430 kills were tied for 10th in school single-season history... Named all-conference honorable mention prior to the season.

2010: Had a breakout junior year, starting 25 of the team's 28 matches...Finished third on the team with 269 kills...Also chipped in 57 total blocks and 21 service aces...Hit .246, good for second on the team...Notched one double-double with 15 kills and 12 digs in a 3-1 victory over UNC Wilmington...Put down a career-high 22 kills against James Madison on the road before notching 21 in a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Dukes at home...Had 12 double-digit kill matches...Had four-straight 10-plus kill matches from Oct. 23-Nov. 7.

2009: Finished her sophomore season 33rd in the NCAA with 0.42 service aces per set, tops in the CAA...Opened the season with a five-kill, six-ace, six-dig performance in the Panthers win over The Citadel, scoring a .556 hitting percentage, her best of the season...Scored a career-high 14 kills against Kennesaw State on 9/22, along with a season-high 35 attacks...Finished the year with 164 kills, fourth most on the team...Scored eight kills and nine digs in the Panthers championship match win over Elon on 9/19...Finished with nine kills and eight digs at William & Mary on 10/9...Scored nine kills in back-to-back matches against Mercer (10/20) and UNC Wilmington (10/24)...Earned the CAA Commissioner's Academic Award.

2008: After getting acclimated to collegiate volleyball, Kangwa had a very solid second half of her freshman season...Scored her first double-digit kill performance in a five-set match against Mercer on 9/30, scoring 11 kills with just three errors and 26 attempts...Scored another double-digit kill performance against VCU on 11/9, scoring 10 kills with no errors for a .385 attack percentage...Earned the first double-digit dig performance of her career with 10 in a win over UNC Wilmington on 11/1...After seeing little time on the court early in the season, played significant time in all but one of the final 17 matches of the year...Set a personal-best with four block assists in the conference-opener against Delaware on 9/26...Finished her freshman year with 63 kills, 28 digs, 26 total blocks, nine assists and five aces.

Prep: An all-around athlete for the Green Wave, she earned seven letters, four in tennis and three in volleyball...Under Stephanie Martin's guidance, helped Fort Myers High reach the Florida Class 5A Final Four during her junior year with a 26-4 record...During her senior year, helped team to 25-5 record before falling in the state regional semifinals...Earned all-area and all-conference honors after posting 268 kills, 98 digs and 102 service aces with a .504 attacking percentage during her senior season...Served 26 aces in one game as senior in regional quarterfinals vs. Barron Collier High...Was also on USA South volleyball club that advanced to the state finals...On the tennis court, she played at the No. 1 position and earned all-area and all-conference honors during her final three seasons.

Personal: Mukuka Kangwa is the oldest child of Patrick and Sibongile Kangwa...She was born on July 1, 1990, below the equator in Lusaka, Zambia in southern Africa...Has a younger brother, Chilufya, and a younger sister, Thandiwe...Muki comes from a solid athletic background, as her mother played on the Zambian national volleyball team for nine years and her fathered competed on the Zambian 1995 Davis Cup team before serving as team captain...He now is tennis pro at The Landings in Fort Myers and hosts the junior national USTA event...Academically, Muki was chosen for Rho Kappa Honor Socity for social studies (minimum 3.5 GPA)...One of Muki's relaxing pleasures is reading the Harry Potter series books...Chose to attend Georgia State over UCF, South Florida, Charlotte and Villanova...Majoring in biological science.
