Becca Mueller has been tabbed to lead the Georgia State softball program as the fourth head coach in school history on June 20, 2024.

As an assistant coach, she helped three different programs--UCF, California and Georgia--reach NCAA regionals over the last six seasons.

Mueller spent the 2024 season at UCF as the assistant coach working with hitters and outfielders, as well as the recruiting coordinator. She helped lead the Big 12 program to 31 victories and an at-large berth in the NCAA Tournament at the Tallahassee Regional, highlighted by a first-round victory over Auburn. She tutored two NFCA All-Region selections, two All-Big 12 honorees and two members of the Big 12 All-Freshman team.

She went to UCF in 2023-24 after three seasons with the California Golden Bears, working primarily with the team’s offense as hitting coach. In her final season there, she helped guide Cal to a 35-21-1 record and a trip to the 2023 NCAA Norman Regional, where the Bears advanced to the regional final.

Mueller’s 2023 Cal offense led the Pac 12 and ranked No. 13 in the nation in home runs (1.30 per game) while hitting .294 with a school-record 81 doubles in 57 games.

During her time in Berkeley, she worked with two All-Americans, eight all-region selections and eight all-conference honorees, and she helped assemble a 2023 recruiting class that was ranked No. 18 in the nation by Extra Inning Softball.

Six of Mueller’s former players from UCF (3) and Cal (3) are currently playing professionally.

Prior to joining Cal, Mueller served as an assistant coach at Ball State during the COVID-19-shortened 2020 campaign, overseeing a Cardinals offense that led the MAC with a .304 team batting average. Ball State also ranked first in the conference in doubles (53), on-base percentage (.405), runs per game (6.19), slugging (.503) and walks (102). The Cardinals’ 53 doubles and 102 walks were good for top-10 ranks nationally.

Mueller spent the 2019 season as a volunteer assistant coach with Georgia, helping guide the Bulldogs to a 42-19 record and an appearance in the NCAA Minneapolis Regional. She helped coach an offense that ranked third in the Southeastern Conference in home runs while producing a quartet of NFCA All-Southeast Region selections, including one NFCA Third Team All-American.

Mueller began her collegiate coaching career in 2017 as an assistant coach at Colgate, where she helped facilitate marked improvements to the team’s batting average (.222 to .273), slugging percentage (.312 to .417) and home run totals (15 to 29) from the previous season. The team led the Patriot League in home runs, doubles and slugging.

In 2018, she returned to her alma mater, the College of Charleston, as a volunteer assistant coach for one season.

Mueller finished her Charleston career (2013-16) as one of the top players in school history. The two-time team captain was twice named All-CAA, earned a pair of spots on the CAA all-tournament team and received third-team NFCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region honors following her senior season in 2016.

After starting 220 games in the outfield, she finished in the top 10 in 12 offensive categories, including a .335 career batting average. She helped lead the Cougars to three 35-win seasons.

The Fair Oaks, Calif., native graduated from the College of Charleston in 2016 with a degree in political science.
