Assistant Coach

Kevin Olmstead joined the Georgia State softball staff as an assistant coach in September 2026. He comes to Atlanta following five seasons with Oregon Tech.

In his time at Oregon Tech, Olmstead served in a variety of roles, most recently as the hitting coach and recruiting coordinator. His work also includes time as an assistant with infielders, outfielders and an assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Before Oregon Tech, he worked for two seasons at Lassen CC. In 2020, he helped the Cougars reach a 20-5 record before the season ended due to COVID.

Olmstead is a former professional baseball player with stints in Puerto Rico and the Empire League. He has gained coaching experience from his time managing the Grant Pass Nuggets AAA American Legion program in 2024 and in 2025, became the head coach of the Medford Rogues, a summer collegiate baseball team. In 2026, he was named the league’s Coach of the Year.

Coach Olmstead earned a degree in business from York College in 2018 while receiving a master's in Exercise Science with a sports administration emphasis.
